A man already in prison for the rest of his life is now being charged with a previously unsolved three decade old murder in Ventura County.
Oxnard Police detectives and prosecutors with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office say they used DNA evidence to link Vincent Mackey to the September, 1985 sexual assault and murder of Isabel Hernandez.
Investigators say the 19 year old woman was attacked and murdered during a burglary of her Oxnard apartment. Mackey is already behind bars for the 1986 murder of a man, but he could potentially get the death penalty if convicted of the new charges.
