Man Accused Of Stealing Vehicle, Trying To Use It To Rip ATM From Ventura County Shopping Center

A Ventura County man has been arrested after detectives say he stole a vehicle, and then used it to try to use it to rip an ATM out of a shopping center.

Ventura County Sheriff’s investigators say Ricardo Herrera broke into a Thousand Oaks business and stole several items, including the keys to a vehicle.

They say the Thousand Oaks man then went to the Janss Marketplace. Detectives say he attached a strap to the ATM, and tried to pull it out of its mounting fixture.

They say the strap broke, and Herrera fled. Officers used the surveillance video to identify the vehicle, and the 28 year old man.

Herrera was arrested at his home on commercial burglary, attempted grand theft and stolen vehicle charges.
