Major Retailers Serving Central, South Coasts Announce Store Closures

Even as businesses begin to reopen on the Central and South Coasts, it may be too late for some. A number of nationally known chains with stores in our region have announced store closings.

Victoria’s Secret announced it will close 250 stores, or about 25% of its current locations. There are a number of them on the Central and South Coasts, but there’s no word yet if local stores will be impacted.

Victoria Secret’s parent company also announced it will shut down 50 of its Bath and Body Works stores.

JC Penny says it will close 242 stores, or about 30% of the chain. Again, there is no word on whether locations in our region will be impacted.

And, clothing company J. Crew filed for Chapter 11 protection. The company says it may close some of the 500 stores it operates under three brands.

Nordstrom had already announced it will permanently close its store in Downtown Santa Barbara.
