The largest LGBTQ center between LA and San Francisco is holding it’s Pride Festival the weekend of August 24.
The Pacific Pride Foundation provides services to members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities in Santa Barbara, and is hosting their Pride festival at Chase Palm Park at noon Saturday.
More than 4000 people are expected to attend the festival.
Pacific Pride Foundation Executive Director Colette Schabram says they will also be commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, “which is one of, truly, the markers of the start of our LGBTQ+ civil rights movement, that happened 50 years ago and has been progressing ever since.”
Schabram says that the festival is also a great place to get to know members of the community: "If you feel like you don’t know somebody who is LGBTQ, come to the pride festival and come meet us and know that we’re your neighbors, we’re your family and friends."
The pride festival will start at noon and go on until 7 pm.
