Legislation by Santa Barbara Congressman To Address Sea Level Rise Clears Hurdle

A bill by a Santa Barbara congressman intended to help coastal communities prepare for some impacts of climate change has been passed by the House of Representatives. HR 3541 would give states access to grants to help assess issues like sea level rise, and to begin development of plans to address them.

Democratic Congressman Salud Carbajal co-authored the legislation with Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, and Republican Congressman Francis Rooney of Florida.
