Investigation Continues After Train Fatally Hits Pedestrian On South Coast

An Amtrak Train was stopped not far from the Santa Barbara station Wednesday at 3 p.m. when a pedestrian was hit on the tracks.

The conductor told sheriff's officials he tried to avoid the fatal collision and blew the horn several times.

He also attempted to stop before the victim was hit.

The incident occurred near Butterfly Lane in Montecito.

It is unknown if the deceased man knew the train was coming or had time to react.

No ID for the victim has been released at this time.
