The holiday season is moving into high gear this coming weekend, with a number of theme events planned on the Central and South Coasts.

More than 65,000 people are expected to be on hand for the 65th Annual Downtown Santa Barbara Holiday Parade. The parade starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday on State Street, and travels from Sola to Cota Streets.

Meanwhile, preparations are also underway for what’s called the largest holiday parade on the Central Coast, San Luis Obispo’s 42nd Annual Holiday Parade.  The Downtown SLO parade begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Chorro and Palm Streets, and travels to Higuera and Nipomo Streets.
