Hit And Run Death On South Coast Being Called Suspicious

Authorities say the death of a man who was struck, and fatally injured by a SUV in Ventura County may not have been an accident.

Oxnard Police say they were called to the intersection of Fifth, and Meta Streets at about 2:30 Sunday morning by a report of someone being hit by a vehicle.  They found a seriously injured man at the scene.

Detectives say they learned that the victim had been involved in a dispute with someone else at the Oxnard intersection just before he was hit.  The vehicle involved in the incident, an older model white SUV, fled the scene.

Investigators are calling the death suspicious.  They have been working to find witnesses and surveillance video from nearby businesses.  The name of the victim hasn’t been released yet.
