Potentially dangerous wildfire conditions on the Central and South Coasts mean we could see a number of Public Safety Power Shutoffs. The shutoffs are intended to prevent brush fires caused by downed or damaged power lines during high wind events.
Southern California Edison officials say nearly 120,000 customers in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties could be impacted. In Ventura County, outages are possible during the next two days for the Ventura, Ojai, Santa Paula, Fillmore, Piru, Moorpark, Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley areas. About two thousand customers in mostly rural areas have already been hit by shutoffs.
In Santa Barbara County, Edison officials say there could be shutoffs in the Carpinteria, Summerland, and Gaviota areas.
On the Central Coast, PG&E announced Public Safety Power Shutoffs are possible for about 700 customers in rural areas east of Santa Maria, Nipomo, and Arroyo Grande.
