High School Gym Pressed Into Service On Central Coast As Homeless Shelter During Coronavirus Crisis

A high school gym on the Central Coast is being pressed into use as an emergency shelter for the homeless. With existing facilities in the Santa Maria Valley packed because of the rain and coronavirus, the Santa Maria High School gym is being used as shelter space. About 20 people were housed in the gym Sunday night. School staff isn’t involved in the shelter effort.
