We’re in the lull between wind events, but high brush fire potential and the possibility of some public safety power shutoffs are in the forecast for parts of the Central and South Coasts.
We’re getting a break Tuesday night and Wednesday, but Thursday and Friday have the potential for wind related brush fire problems.
The biggest concern is on the South Coast, specifically Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. There’s a Red Flag Warning for parts of those counties Thursday and Friday. Wind in the 40-60 mile an hour range is possible in the mountains and foothills.
The wind won’t be as strong in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, but there is still an elevated brush fire risk.
Southern California Edison officials say about 18,000 customers in Ventura County could face public safety power shutoffs. The list includes parts of the Camarillo, Fillmore, Ojai, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, and Ventura areas. Santa Barbara County isn’t on the list at this point. The wind is expected to ease off as we move into the weekend.
