He's (Coming) Back! Former Santa Barbara County Fire Chef Returning On Interim Basis

Before he retired, he was once Santa Barbara County’s Fire Chief.   Now, three years after he left the agency, Michael Dyer is back again, but this time on an interim basis.

Current Fire Chief Eric Peterson is retiring after more than three decades with the agency. The county is launching a search for a new chief, but Dyer agreed to come out of retirement to fill the post on an interim basis.

Dyer worked for 37 years in public safety, and was the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Deputy Chief before joining Santa Barbara County Fire in 2009. Currently, he’s working for the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management.
