A new Ventura County Grand Jury report is calling on the county to more closely monitor the drug treatment programs it provides through private contractors.
The county has a deal with Aegis Treatment Centers and Western Pacific Medical Company to operate five treatment clinics in the county.
The Grand Jury feels Ventura County Behavioral Health relies too much on the state and the federal governments for oversight duties, and that it should be more involved in monitoring services. The new report says the county should provide information to the public about the effectiveness of the programs.
It also calls for beefed up security at the clinic locations.
