Governor Issues Mandatory Mask Order; 120+ New Coronavirus Cases Reported On Central, South Coasts

With growing concern about a rise in new coronavirus cases in the state, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a mandatory mask order.   People are now being required statewide to wear masks or other coverings in public spaces.  It includes wearing them while using public transportation, seeking medical care or shopping. 

More than 120 new confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported on the Central and South Coasts.  The regional total stands at 4395 cases.

Ventura County has 47 new cases, for 1753 overall.  Santa Barbara County has 82 new cases, for a total of 2253.  A little under half of Santa Barbara County’s numbers are linked to the federal prison complex in Lompoc.  And, San Luis Obispo County has 389 cases.

There’s been one additional coronavirus death in the region, in Ventura County, bringing the total to 65.  Ventura County has had 42, Santa Barbara County 22, and San Luis Obispo County one.
