Four Lost Teenage Hikers Found By Search And Rescue Team On Central Coast

Four Central Coast teenagers have quite the story to tell after their hike ended with them being the focus of a search and rescue mission.

The 17 year olds were hiking near Mussel Point, west of Santa Maria Sunday afternoon when they became lost.

They called for help around eight Sunday night. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue Team was deployed, but efforts to find the teens were hampered by darkness, mud, and fog.

The team used the GPS device on one of the cell phones of the missing teens to find them around 3 a.m. yesterday. Other than being cold, and tired, they were fine.
