Car plunges into South Coast store, injuring four

Investigators are still trying to figure out exactly why a car plowed into a South Coast market yesterday, leaving one person seriously injured and three others with minor injuries.

The accident happened just before 10 a.m. yesterday, on the 5700 block of Calle Real in Goleta. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office officials say an 85 year old man was parking at a Trader Joe’s, but instead sped up and smashed into its entrance.

A 35 year old man was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He’s reported to be in stable condition. Two kids in the store suffered minor injuries, as did the driver of the car.
