Former Treasurer Of Ventura Police Foundation Headed To Jail For Theft

An 81 year old Ventura County man has been sentenced to a year in jail after pleading no contest to stealing more than $100,000 from a police foundation. Prosecutors say Gale Hartman was treasurer of the Ventura Police Community Foundation.

They say he used the foundation’s debit card to take nearly $120,000 from the organization’s bank account over a four year period.

After pleading no contest to four felony counts, Hartman received the 365 day jail sentence, 60 months probation, and was ordered to pay full restitution.
