Ventura County firefighters are dealing with high temperaturess and rugged terrain as they try to contain a  brush fire west of Fillmore.

The fire started just after noon Sunday in the South Mountain Road area.  By 2:30 p.m., it had grown to more than 120 acres.

Some structures were initially threatened.  Firefighters were able to protect some that were initially in danger, and then the fire starting burning into undeveloped areas.

Helicopters and air tankers are playing a key role in firefighting efforts, because of the rugged terrian in the area.
