Firefighters are on the scene Tuesday afternoon of a brush fire burning off of Highway 118 in eastern Simi Valley

Firefighters are battling a brush fire burning off of Highway 118 Tuesday near the Ventura/Los Angeles County line, on the outskirts of Simi Valley.

The fire was discovered at about 2:45 p.m. off of the highway near Kuehner Drive.  No structures are reported to be in immediate danger.  The fire has led to the closure of some lanes of the highway, leading to traffic backups.

About five acres of brush has burned.  Firefighters say the blaze could potentially scorch up to 15 acres of land before it's contained.  Because it's on the border of the two counties, Ventura and Los Angeles County firefighters are battling the blaze, as are some from the City of Los Angeles.
