Families Of Young Children With Special Needs Attend South Coast Conference

Walking the Path Conference at Ventura County Office of Education in Camarillo

Families of young children with special needs in Ventura County gathered for an event over the weekend to learn about resources and strategies to help their kids.

The 28th conference called “Walking the Path Together: Tools for Building the Path” took place Saturday at the Ventura County Office of Education in Camarillo.

Workshops covered topics including behavior breakthroughs and how to care for siblings of special needs children.

Paula Swain, who’s raising her two-year-old granddaughter with special needs, said the conference was helpful.

"It just makes life easier for everybody -- for myelf, them.  And less chaos in the home hopefully.  That's what I'm hoping for," she said.

The event also included a resource fair that helped families connect with agencies and organizations that can provide support.
