April 22nd is “Earth Day,” and a number of events are taking place on the Central and South Coasts.
One of the biggest Earth Day events is in Santa Barbara’s Alameda Park, where the event has become so large it is taking place on both Saturday and Sunday. Other events are taking place in Ventura’s Plaza Park, and in San Luis Obispo at El Chorro Regional Park.
Meanwhile, a number of “Marches For Science” are planned in the region for Saturday, including marches in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. They’re part of what’s turned into a global event. Organizers of the Santa Barbara march say it’s an effort to raise nonpartisan support for scientific research.
