Documentary About Gifted Young Musician On South Coast Premiers In Ventura

Oxnard musician Rachel Flowers focus of new documentary premiering in Ventura Thursday night, "Hearing is Believing"

She’s a South Coast woman living with a disability. But, that hasn’t stopped her from becoming what many call a musical prodigy.

A documentary telling Rachel Flowers story is making its world premiere Thursday night in Ventura.

“Hearing is Believing” has been a more than two year long project by Ventura County filmmaker Lorenzo DeStefano.

Stefano says more than 150 people, and groups stepped up to help fund the project.

He says the story is about a young woman who is trying to follow her dreams, as her single mother and brother try to help. After Thursday night’s 6:30 premiere at the Century 10 Theater in downtown Ventura, the film is headed to the film festival circuit, and possible commercial release.

KCLU News did an award winning story about Flowers in 2014, as the project was in its early stages.  Here's a link to it:  http://archive.kclu.org/2014/08/22/gifted-musician-subject-of-documentary-to-perform-in-ventura-county-this-weekend/
