DNA Evidence Leads To Arrest In Nearly Six Year Abduction, Sexual Assault Case On South Coast

Detectives say DNA evidence has led to an arrest in connection with a abduction, and sexual assault which occurred in Ventura County nearly six years ago. In May of 2013, a woman was walking on the 15000 block of Santa Paula Street in the outskirts of Santa Paula when she was attacked. A man armed with a knife forced her into a nearby orchard, and sexually assaulted her.

In 2018, Leroy Chad Tracy of Santa Paula was arrested on an unrelated crime. His DNA was entered into the CODIS database system, and Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives say it was connected to the 2013 attack. Following further investigation, the Santa Paula man was arrested this week on four felony charges related to the kidnapping, and sexual assault.
