Science teacher Kim Ramirez is recovering at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles County after an accident this week at the La Cumbre Junior High School campus.
The Santa Barbara Unified School District says she is in stable condition.
Her family credits the quick response of the local fire and medical personal for treating her as soon as possible following the accident, which caused burns reportedly on her upper body.
Since then, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist Ramirez with her medical expenses, which her family says includes multiple surgeries.
So far $17,000 has been donated.
