The COVID-19 crisis continues to deepen on the Central and South Coasts.
Nearly 6,000 new cases were reported in the region for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, as we see the impacts of what public health officials say is a surge on top of a surge.
The state has received about 2.5 million doses of vaccine. But what are the priorities, and when can average citizens get vaccinated?
Ventura County Public Health Officer Dr. Robert Levin says hospital personnel and nursing home residents have been getting the first wave of vaccinations, with some already getting their followup shots.
Dr. Levin says we should see more healthcare related workers vaccinated by the end of the month.
He’s hopeful by June, everyone that wants a shot will have one. But, what about those who don’t want a shot? He says that by the, between 70% to 80% of the county;s population will have eaither been vaccinated, or had the virus, so we will have herd immunity,.
