COVID-19 Surge On Surge Continues On Central, South Coasts; Three-Day Total Of New Cases Near 6,000

The Central and South Coasts are coming off one of the worst three-day periods of the pandemic, with nearly 6000 new COVID-19 cases in the region.

Ventura County accounted for more than half of them, with 3288 reported for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Santa Barbara County had 1814 cases, but some of those are the result of technical issues which prevented an update of Thursday’s cases.  And, San Luis Obispo County had 844 additional cases over the three days.  The total since the first cases were discovered in the Tri-Counties last year now tops 87,000 cases.

41 additional deaths were reported in the Tri-Counties, with 17 in Ventura County, 14 in Santa Barbara County, and 10 in San Luis Obispo Counties.  The region has now had 661 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
