COVID-19 Outbreak At Central Coast Jail Continues To Grow In Size, With 21 New Cases Reported

A COVID-19 outbreak at a Central Coast jail continues to grow in size, with more than 60 new cases reported since mid-December.

San Luis Obispo County Jail officials say 21 additional people tested positive for the virus, bring the total number from the outbreak to 62.

The outbreak is linked to a dorm-like setting at the jail, which has been isolated from other jail housing units.

None of the active cases required hospitalization.

Six additional deputies at the jail have also tested positive, bringing the total to 20 since the start of the pandemic.
