COVID-19 Death Toll Continues To Rise On Central, South Coasts; 21 Deaths Reported Wednesday

It was one of the deadliest days yet for COVID-19 on the Central and South Coasts Wednesday.  21 new deaths were reported in the region.

Ventura County had eight, Santa Barbara County eight, and San Luis Obispo County five.  It brings the area’s total since the start of the pandemic to 581.

Breaking it down by counties, Ventura County had 305 deaths, Santa Barbara County 181, and San Luis Obispo County 95.

The number of new coronavirus cases locally also continued to surge, with more than 2200 Wednesday.

Ventura County had 1519 cases, Santa Barbara County 429, and San Luis Obispo County 290.  There have now been more than 77,500 cases diagnosed in the region since March.  Ventura County has had more than half of the cases, with 45,959.
