Could There Be More Victims of The Golden State Killer In Ventura County?

Rhonda Wicht and her four year old son were murdered in their Simi Valley apartment in 1978. Simi Valley Police are now looking to see if there may be a Golden State Killer connection

Could there be even more victims of the Golden State killer in Ventura County? 12 murders have been attributed to the killer, who struck in ten counties statewide from the mid-1970’s to the mid-80’s. Simi Valley Police are looking at the possibility that the unsolved November, 1978 killings of Rhonda Wicht and her four year old son might be the serial killer’s work.

Wicht was strangled, and her son suffocated. Craig Coley had been convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend and her son, and spent nearly 40 years in prison. However, the re-examination of evidence led to him being cleared of the crimes last year. It prompted detectives to re-open the case.

The murders occurred during the time the Golden State killer was roaming the state. Investigators are now seeing if the evidence can be linked to the Joseph James DeAngelo, the man now charged with eight of the murders.
