Coronavirus Death Toll Hits 70 On Central, South Coasts; Number of Diagnosed Cases Tops 4900

There have been five additional coronavirus related deaths, and more than 300 new diagnosed coronavirus cases on the Central and South Coasts.

Three new deaths are linked to a coronavirus outbreak at a senior care facility in Santa Barbara County, bringing the total there to nine.  County health officials say the latest deaths at the Country Oaks Care Center in Santa Maria were all people in their 70’s.  Ventura County had one additional death, a person in their 90’s with preexisting health conditions.

Santa Barbara County has had a total of 26 coronavirus related deaths, Ventura County 43, and San Luis Obispo County one.  The regional total is now 70.

The number of diagnosed cases on the Central and South Coasts topped the 4900 mark today.  It’s at 4918 cases.  Santa Barbara County has 2446.   About a thousand of them are linked to the federal prison complex in Lompoc.  Ventura County has 2030 cases, and San Luis Obispo County has 442.
