Coronavirus Antibody Study In Ventura County Has Optimistic Preliminary Results

A research project on the extent of the coronavirus crisis in Ventura County is providing a snapshot of how the county may be faring, and it paints an optimistic picture.

California Lutheran University, UCLA, and UC Irvine are among the agencies taking part in the COVID-19 antibody study.  The project is trying to test 10,000 people in the county.

Researchers released some early information on the study, looking at the results of nearly 6800 people tested between June 22nd and July 6th. It showed a 1.3% positivity rate, which is very low.

But, researchers caution that the demographics of those tested aren’t a solid match with the county’s.  And, they say there isn’t enough information to compare it with other regions of the state. Cal Lutheran is the parent of KCLU.
