The owners of the dive boat involved in the deadly Labor Day fire in the Channel Islands which killed 34 people have announced they are suspending operation of their other boats indefinitely. Truth Aquatics owns the Conception, as well as two other boats based at Santa Barbara Harbor.
A statement on the company’s website says they are suspending all operations for an as yet to be determined amount of time. It says the company wants to make its other boats models of new regulations coming out of the deadly fire.
Teams of federal investigators have been working to piece together the remains of the Conception, which were recovered by salvage teams and taken to Naval Base Ventura County.
The Associated Press reported last week that so far, investigators have been unable to pinpoint the cause of the fire.
