Cal State Channel Islands has received the largest donation in its history from a Ventura County foundation.

Classes will resume Thursday morning at a South Coast university, after being cancelled Wednesday by reports of an assault on campus involving an armed woman.

Cal State Channel Islands officials say a female student was physically assaulted by another female student in a restroom in the Bell Tower building. CSUCI Police say the attacker brandished a handgun in Wednesday’s 11 a.m. incident, but no shots were reported.

Investigators say the attacker was last seen fleeing the building after the assault. A search of the campus failed to find any sign of the woman. The victim was taken to a hospital to be checked for injuries.

All classes and activities were cancelled for the day, and students and staff members were told not to come to campus. Classes and campus activities are set to return to normal Thursday.
