Central, South Coasts Now Have 34 Coronavirus Cases; Governor Says 56% Of State Will Get It

The governor has asked the federal government for additional aid to deal with coronavirus, citing a stunning prediction by state health officials that 56% of the state’s residents will get the virus in the next eight weeks. The governor says projections show more than 25 million Californians will get coronavirus. There are now nearly three dozen confirmed cases of coronavirus on the Central and South Coasts.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases continues to grow on the Central and South Coasts. There are now 34 documented cases in the region. Ventura County has 13, San Luis Obispo County 13, and Santa Barbara County eight.

The news isn’t unexpected to health officials. Ventura County Public Health Officer Dr. Robert Levin told KCLU News last week that we should expect to see an increase in numbers before the outbreak is controlled. San Luis Obispo County has issued the toughest orders in the region to try to control the virus. It’s a shelter in home order.

It means people can’t congregate in public. But, people can still leave their homes like activities like a hike, or walking a dog.
