Central Coast Theater Company Cancels Summer Season; Financial Blow For Region's Tourism

A theater company which has been entertaining the Central Coast for more than a half century has cancelled its entire 2020 summer season because of the coronavirus crisis.

PCPA - Pacific Conservatory Theater stages productions at the Marian Theater in Santa Maria, and at the Solvang Festival Theater in Solvang.

Besides providing entertainment for Central Coast audiences, the productions have served as a training ground for generations of performers, stage hands, set builders and costumers.

This year’s season included “The Sound of Music,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Something Rotten,” and “A Doll’s House, Part 2.”

The PCPA box office is contacting ticketholders about ticket return options.

The announcement is a financial blow to Solvang, because the popular outdoor productions bring an estimated 30,000 people to the community annually.
