Man sought by San Luis Obispo Police in connection with disappearance of Police Chief's gun.

A Central Coast police chief issued a public apology after she took her service revolver off in a restaurant bathroom, and the gun was stolen. San Luis Obispo Police Chief Deanna Cantrell says the accident happened Wednesday.

A man was caught on surveillance video leaving the restroom area, and it’s believed he took the weapon.

Cantrell says as Police Chief, she is a believer in the agency being fully transparent.  She posted a video online making the incident public, and says she expected to be held accountable.

Cantrell has been San Luis Obispo’s Police Chief since January of 2016.
