Car To Car Shooting In Oxnard Neighborhood Leaves Student At Nearby School Wounded

Police says a car to car shooting in a Ventura County neighborhood left a student at a nearby elementary school wounded.

Oxnard Police say they received reports of the incident near McAuliffe Elementary School just after 11:30 Thursday morning.  There were reports of a shooting adjacent to the school, which is on the 3000 block of Via Marina Avenue.

Police say a stray bullet hit a nine year old student on campus.  The injured girl was taken to a hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury, and later released.  No one else was hurt.  The school was placed on lockdown, and students released to their parents at a nearby reunification center.

Police are looking for the people involved in the shooting.
