Caltrans Truck Spill Coats South Coast Highway With Drilling Mud

A Caltrans flatbed truck lost 7 barrels of drilling mud at the intersection of Highway 154 and State Street Wednesday.

The barrels came off the truck and some of them split open when they hit the asphalt, coating the street with mud.

California Highway Patrol stopped traffic on the very busy street as the Santa Barbara County Fire Department determined it was not a hazardous material.

The barrels were righted and cleanup took place over the course of a half an hour. A nearby Caltrans crew helped scoop up the mud.
