Cal Lutheran Provost Makes Major Contribution To Help Financially Struggling Students

A university official on the South Coast and her husband opened up their checkbook to help some struggling college students.

California Lutheran University Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Leanne Neilsen and her husband George donated $100,000 to the university to create an emergency support endowment.

The new fund will help financially struggling students in Cal Lutheran’s programs. Neilsen has been at the university for more than 25 years, and chief academic officer since 2008. Cal Lutheran is the parent of KCLU Radio.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
