A Santa Barbara County bus driver who pled guilty to charges she was under the influence of drugs when she crashed, injuring several people has been sentenced to state prison.
The crash happened in January of 2019.
Laura May Gish was driving southbound on Highway 101 near Los Alamos when she fell asleep. More than a half dozen passengers were hurt when the bus drifted off the road, hit a tree, and rolled on its side.
Santa Barbara County prosecutors say the 52 year old woman tested positive for methamphetamine. Gish pled guilty to charges of driving under the influence causing injury, and possession of methamphetamine.
She received the maximum sentence of seven years in state prison.
