Brush Fire Closes Major Santa Barbara County Highway

Firefighters are getting the upper hand on a brush fire on San Marcos Pass in Santa Barbara County which closed Highway 154. The blaze is in the area of Highway 154 and West Camino Cielo. It was reported just after 4:30 Monday afternoon, and was visible from Santa Barbara. It was at one point reported to be 15 acres, but was later downgraded to around five.

Santa Barbara County firefighters used a helicopter to attack the blaze. The shutdown impacted traffic for thousands of commuters.
