Body Of Man Recovered Several Days After Car Crash In Santa Barbara County

A search and rescue team has recovered the body of a man who apparently died when his car plunged off a Santa Barbara County highway last weekend, with the wreck remaining undiscovered for days.

The car was on Highway 1 southeast of Lompoc, near Long Canyon when it apparently veered off the roadway, and plunged about 100 feet down an embankment. It ended up in a creek bed, where it was finally noticed on Thursday by a passerby.

The CHP says the man suffered fatal injuries in the crash. An autopsy is pending, to see if alcohol or drugs were factors. The name of the 31 year old man, who was from Lompoc, hasn’t been released yet.
