Bill To Rename South Coast Post Office After Fallen Navy Seal Passed By House

The House of Representatives has passed a bill to rename a South Coast post office after a Navy Seal from the region who was killed in combat in Afghanistan.

The legislation calls for renaming the main Santa Barbara Post Office the after Lou Langlais.

The Santa Barbara High School graduate was a part of the Navy’s elite Seal Team Six, and received five Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for his 25 years in the service. In August of 2011, the helicopter Langlais was in was shot down in Eastern Afghanistan. All 30 service members on board were killed.

The House unanimously passed the bill authored by Democratic Congresswoman Lois Capps of Santa Barbara. It now goes to the Senate for consideration.
