Bill To Help Veterans Get Jobs Co-Authored By Ventura County Congresswoman Passes House

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill co-authored by a Ventura County legislator intended to help veterans get jobs.

Democratic Congresswoman Julia Brownley of Westlake Village and Republican Congressman Brad Wenstrup of Ohio co-authored the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Programs Reauthorization Act.

The bill gives veterans additional access to job training programs. It cuts through some legal red tape.

Because some veterans are getting certain types of housing assistance, they are no longer considered homeless, which makes them ineligible for job training programs for homeless veterans. The legislation now goes to the Senate for consideration.
