Amid Coronavirus Event Cancellations, Central Coast Fairgrounds Announces Plans For New Festivals

Amid all the cancellations of special events on the Central and South Coasts, one organization is actually announcing plans for a new one.

The Santa Maria Fairpark is going to have a new festival this fall. The event hasn’t been named yet.

Plans call for the unnamed event to be a hybrid of things you would normally find at the Fairpark’s Annual Strawberry Festival, which was postponed, and the Santa Barbara County Fair.

The event will take place the weekend of October 23rd through 25th. Meanwhile, as of now the Santa Barbara County Fair is still on the schedule. Planning is continuing for the event, which is set for July 15th through 19th at the Fairpark in Santa Maria.

Last month, the Fairpark announced that it was laying off a number of part time workers as a result of the cancellation of a nber of events.
