Air Force Set To Test Launch Intercontinental Ballistic Missile From Central Coast

Feb 22, 2021

The Air Force has announced plans to test launch an intercontinental ballistic missile from the Central Coast this week.  The launch window at Vandenberg Air Force Base begins at 11:47 Tuesday and extends to 5:47 Wednesday morning.

The Air Force routinely launches unarmed Minuteman III missiles from the base as part of its efforts to test equipment and crew readiness.

The missiles usually fly to a test range in the Pacific about 4000 miles away.  Weather conditions permitting, the launch should be visible throughout much of the Central and South Coasts.
