After Coronavirus Concerns Postpones Graduation Ceremonies, South Coast University Takes It Online

A South Coast university is going online with its commencement ceremonies as a result of the coronavirus crisis. California Lutheran University will hold two virtual ceremonies this month for its 2020 graduates.

The ceremonies will include video recordings of student speeches, the presentation of graduates, and the conferring of degrees by university president Chris Kimball.

There will also be downloadable slides for each student with their names recorded, so they can share the slides with family and friends on social media.

Cal Lutheran is still planning to hold in-person ceremonies for 2020 graduates after coronavirus related restrictions are lifted.  The Thousand Oaks based university is the parent of KCLU Radio.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
