The surge in coronavirus cases on the Central and South Coasts continues, with 343 additional cases reported Thursday. Ventura County added 107 cases, Santa Barbara County an additional 162, and San Luis Obispo County 74.
Since the crisis started, Ventura County has had 6152 diagnosed cases, Santa Barbara County 5444, and San Luis Obispo County 1467. The region's toal now tops 13,000, at 13,063. Most of those diagnosed with the virus have already recovered.
There’s been another coronavirus related death on the Central and South Coasts, bringing the region’s total to 103.
Ventura County has had 63 deaths, Santa Barbara County 32, and now San Luis Obispo County is reporting its eighth death. Most of the deaths were older adults with preexisting health conditions.
Santa Barbara County modified its health order Thursday to bring its mask requirements in line with the state’s mandate.
It says people must wear masks when in line to enter, or inside of all businesses. Businesses must require employees to wear masks in workplaces. Passengers must wear masks while using public transportation, and in ride sharing vehicles. And, drivers of car service or ride sharing vehicles must wear masks at all times, even if they don’t have a passenger.
