Central Coast Strawberry Festival Goes Ahead But Pivots To Drive-Thru
The Strawberry Festival in Santa Maria was one of many across the Central and South Coast that had to cancel last year.
It’s the same challenge this year – despite some re-openings – how do you hold the festival with reduced capacity? Well – you make it drive-thru.
Rebecca Barks is the spokesperson for Santa Maria Fairpark, and she says the festival has been going for 34 years so after last year's cancellations, they wanted to find a way to make it happen.
She told KCLU that the festival is a big event for the Santa Maria Valley as it showcases "all the fun things" you can do with strawberries.
Attendees will enjoy festive strawberry decorations, and in the evening can cruise through a lit path along the way to a selection of food booths.
All the food vendors are located one after another and the order will be delivered to you while you wait in the car.
The Strawberry Cruzin' event is free but they do ask that you make a donation to the Santa Maria Fairpark Foundation, if you can.
The fun starts April 28th & April 29th at 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM then April 30th through May 2nd from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM and promises to be a “berry” good time!
