Five Chilean Nationals Arrested For String Of Vehicle Break-Ins In Ventura County

Investigators say they’ve arrested five Chilean nationals in connection with a string of more than 40 vehicle burglaries in the Conejo Valley.

Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives say since the first of the year, there’s been a spike in break-ins at golf courses, hiking trailheads and dog parks.  The burglars would specifically target credit cards, which they would use to buy gift cards and high-ticket items.

Detectives say they arrested two men in January just after the duo had used stolen credit cards to buy items at an electronics store.  They arrested three others this month based on information about a vehicle possibly used by the suspects.

All five men are being held at the Ventura County Jail.  They all recently arrived in the U.S. using a visa waiver program.
